Dominican Guillén Happy with Giants

Jose Guillen went from not being wanted by a team in the basement of another American League National League that is in the playoff hunt, and can not hide his joy.

The Dominican right fielder on Saturday joined the San Francisco Giants, who acquired him on Friday in Kansas City in exchange for cash and a player who will be announced at a later date.

"I like to win," Guillen said. "I'm a passionate and successful love, hate losing. This is a great opportunity and I am very motivated. I'm the kind of player who likes the atmosphere of the playoffs and win."

Guillen reaches San Francisco Giants who are three games behind the San Diego Padres in the fight for the AL West pennant in the National League.

San Francisco ranks first as a team with an option to qualify for the playoffs as a wildcard. In contrast, the Royals, who got rid of Guillen, languishing in the basement of the Central Division of the American League.

The Giants brought Guillen to strengthen the central part of the lineup with a view to the postseason. The dominican bore .255 batting average with 166 home runs and 62 RBIs in his career before the Royals give him low on 5 August.
