Dominican Republic Won Gold in Volley Ball

"The sextet of women's volleyball in the Dominican Republic won the gold medal women's volleyball championship Final Four, after a long battle in five sets to defeat Peru 3-2 (16-25, 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 15-12).

Peru was a very explosive game in the first set, but the Dominicans tied the game after increasing attack and resistance, while the third both teams staged a very close battle.

Peruvian women rallied in the fourth and forced the match to a fifth. Diana Soto finished with 19 points, while Jessenia Uceda scored 16 for the Peruvian team. On the Dominican side, Dahiana Burgos finished with 17 points and Lisvel Eve Mejia with 14.

"It was a very intense and this is what it is in sports, someone wins and someone loses. I can only say that tonight was a worthy champion, "said the captain of Peru, Layla Chihuan.
