Nigerian Soccer Player Died Playing



A nigerian soccer player died after collapsing during a match in the first division of Nigeria.

The Nigerian defender Emmanuel Ogoli who played for the Ocean Boys team fell to the ground at 39 minutes of the game against Niger Tornadoes in the southern city of Yenagoa and pronounced dead later at a local hospital.

The team believes that Ogoli suffered a stroke but are not sure, Eddy Ohis spokesman told The Associated Press.

Ogoli was taken by ambulance . Ohis said the players went to the hospital after the soccer game to find that his partner had died.

The team asked for an autopsy, the spokesman added.

Ocean Boys coach is Emmanuel Amunike, former spanish FC Barcelona midfielder who also played with the selection of Nigeria.
