NFL Taylor Declare Guilty

Lawrence Taylor

legal strategy led former star defender of the National Football League (NFL) Lawrence Taylor to plead guilty to two misdemeanors of which he was accused to avoid going to jail.

Taylor, pleaded guilty Thursday to hiring a prostitute who turned out to be minor, a crime that sent him to jail, but forcing him to register as a sex offender.

The former linebacker, 51, who won Super Bowls in 1987 and 1991 with the New York Giants, will also be six years on probation.

"She told me she was 19 (years), " Taylor said in court, admitting he had sex with a prostitute who turned out to be a 16-year-old had escaped from his home in the Bronx.

Taylor acknowledged that he now knows that she was legally incapable of consenting to the relationship, but then you know that legal reality because he believed he was older.

Attorney Patricia Gunning said the agreement was acceptable in part because Taylor cooperated in research on human trafficking since he was accused.

Another prosecutor, Arthur Ferraro, said outside the court that Taylor "helped in the field of human trafficking in various jurisdictions and with federal authorities. "

Taylor was arrested in May last year in a hotel in suburban New York.

Previously, Taylor pleaded guilty to third-degree rape, abusing a prostitute, sexual abuse and endangering a child, but eventually pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors.

Taylor also had previous problems with drugs and in 1998 had to go to work in a rehabilitation program.

A feared defense that recorded up to 142 sacks of quarterback, Taylor has also had the momentum when it has been off the field that has led to situations not easy as the last one has made.
