Pavano Signed with Twins Again

Carl Pavano

Pitcher Carl Pavano will return to the Minnesota Twins with a new contract for 16.5 million dollars and two years.

The team announced the deal yesterday.

Last season, Pavano had improved to 17-11 with an average ERA of 3.75 in seven complete games, with those who helped the Twins win the Central Division title in the American League.

The right-hander
worked 221 innings, the second highest total in his career, which has been plagued by injuries.

Pavano came to Minnesota in a trade with Cleveland in 2009 and has since resurfaced after three difficult seasons with the New York Yankees.

Again will join the Twins rotation that includes Francisco Liriano and Scott Baker, while Brian Duensing, Nick Blackburn and Kevin Slowey could fight for the last positions.
