Baltimore Sign Dominican Guerrero



Dominican slugger Vladimir Guerrero
and the Baltimore Orioles reached an agreement for one year and $ 8 million, a source told ESPNdeportes.com.

The deal includes incentives and will not be official until the player exceeds the rigorous physical exam.

Guerrero, a nine time All-Star and winner of eight Silver Slugger Awards, will be the designated hitter for the Orioles, who also added free agents Derrek Lee and Kevin Gregg, retained the shortstop Cesar Izturis and third baseman Mark Reynolds during the offseason.

Guerrero, 35, batted .300 with 29 homers and 115 RBIs last season with the Texas Rangers. In a spectacular 15-year career in the majors, the left fielder batting .320 with 436 homers and 1,433 RBIs and won the MVP of the American League in 2004.
