Seven Dominicans in World Boxing Rankings

At least seven Dominicans set out in the boxing world rankings, some of whom have agreed world title fights during the coming months.

Argenis Mendez, a native of San Juan de la Maguana, appears as the official challenger to the junior lightweight title (130 pounds) of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), whose monarch is the African Mzonke Fana.

It is ranked the number one position in the IBF and obtained the right to challenge Fana world belt after defeating veteran and former champion Cassius Baloyi in South Africa tie in combat.

One that appears in the world rankings is Giovanni Lorenzo. The average weight native of San Cristobal is ranked 14 in the ranking of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and is currently preparing to take the world title Hassan Ndam N'Jikam French in France.

In the same division appears ranked Fernando Guerrero, the only Dominican who is currently featured on the ratings of three of the four major boxing governing rankings worldwide.
