A-Rod Back to New York Yankees

Third baseman
Alex Rodriguez returned to the lineup Wednesday for the Yankees in the game against the Toronto Blue Jays after missing the last two games with a strained left side of the torso.

Rodriguez left the field in the seventh inning of the match as New York beat Texas on Saturday. He is batting .385 with four homers and nine RBIs, and leads the AL in on-base percentage (.500) and slugging (.821).

Manager Joe Girardi wanted to see how he felt the player after batting practice, but said he hoped to see him play on Wednesday. Rodriguez hit a day earlier in the cage, rolled and tested filderó trapped but did not participate in batting practice.

A-Rod was placed on the roster in his usual spot batting cleanup, with Robinson Cano in the fifth. Eric Chavez, who replaced Rodriguez in the last two games, returned to the bench.
