Rivers Will Remain with Boston Celtics

The elimination
of the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals is no impediment to the veteran coach Doc Rivers to reach agreement with the team to continue five more years in office.

Rivers, who had advance that it planned to continue at least another season with the Celtics, agreed Friday to a contract extension for five years to complete the cycle with the Big Three veterans and start the process of rebuilding the team.

The announcement of the agreement and the continuation of Rivers was released by general manager Danny Ainge, who had anticipated the continuing belief in the current coach of the Celtics front.

The current Eastern Conference champions were eliminated in the semifinals against the Miami Heat 4-1 in the best of seven series.
