Tom Thibodeau was selected as the 'Coah of the Year' in the NBA after leading the Chicago Bulls to 62 wins in his debut at the helm of a team.

A source with knowledge of the selection on Sunday told The Associated Press that Thibodeau had won the award. The NBA held a press conference in Chicago on Sunday afternoon.

Thibodeau, who was assistant coach in the league for nearly two decades, leveled regular season victories mark set by Paul Westphal campaign with Phoenix in 1992-93.

Finally
given the chance to lead a team after spending three years as a contributor to Doc Rivers in Boston.

Thibodeau came to Chicago in June to succeed Vinny Del Black. With a new roster, the Bulls achieved a 62-20 record in that equaled his best time since Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen won their sixth championship in the 1997-98 season.

Chicago did this even though Carlos Boozer, one of the major acquisitions, and Joakim Noah were out for injuries during important stages of the campaign.
