Joyce and Galarraga Won´t Match in Baseball Games

Exactly one year after a wrong refereeing decision cost him a perfect game, the pitcher Armando Galarraga and the umpire Jim Joyce did not meet.

In fact, it will meet again on a diamond while both still active in baseball. Major League Baseball implemented a rule this season that Joyce can not arbitrate any game featuring the team of Galarraga.

The rule was announced after the Venezuelan and Joyce shared the authorship of a book around that infamous game in Detroit on June 2, 2010.

oyce determined that Jason Donald had arrived safely to first base on what would have been the final out, although the video replay showed that Donald himself had been put out. After Detroit won the game, Joyce apologized to the pitcher for being wrong.
