Big Papi ignored in Boston

Since the beginning of the season, David Ortiz has gone from being intrigued and anxious as a angry with the Boston Red Sox because of his contract situation, said Saturday ESPNdeportes.com a source close to baseball.

"David is very proud and respectful to say publicly how they feel, but the guy is hurt, angry at the way it is being ignored by the Red Sox," the source said.

"After all the things he has done here and be a very good season, at least I expected was a team approach to discuss his future," added the source, who requested anonymity to avoid jeopardizing his relationship with the player .

Ortiz, 35, is batting .289 with 21 homers and 71 RBIs in his last year of his contract with the Red Sox.

Big Papi is the only Major League player with at least 50 extra-base hits each year in the last 10 seasons since 2002 - nine in Boston to tie Carl Yastrzemski (1962-70) in the club.
