Di Stefano headed to FIFA Hall of Fame

Alfredo
Di Stefano, the argentine legend of Real Madrid, was chosen as the first former player to integrate the newly created Hall of Fame Cup.

Real Madrid reported that the "Saeta Rubia" received the award at a ceremony in which he was accompanied by former mexican soccer star Hugo Sanchez, another outstanding record player with the merengue club.

"I am very happy and thank you for the detail, but in football are nothing individually," said Di Stefano, according to statements posted on the Web site of the Real Madrid. "This sport is played collectively and there is none better than the other. Must have a good set to go forward."

Di Stefano, 85, won five European Cups and eight Spanish league titles with Real, and is considered one of the best players in history.

The Hall of Fame FIFA is based in the Mexican city of Pachuca.
